A legitimate website, a trap link: "AI girlfriend" spam sneaks onto unrelated domains

A supposed article about AI virtual girlfriend generators isn't news: it's a link using a Polish cultural venue's website as a shop window. The useful part is how it works and what it says about the virtual partner business.

The material we received contains no article. There is only a headline, "Create an AI girlfriend: Find the ideal virtual partner generator", and a URL on the fabrykanorblina.pl domain. There are no facts, figures or technical details to report. That's why this piece is short.
What can be verified is the URL. It points to an auxiliary page (/wp-content/uploads/spacer/index.html) that takes an "xml" parameter with base64-encoded content (a format that turns text into an opaque string of characters). Decoding it reveals a <krpano> tag with an instruction to include an XML file hosted on an external domain, vrfeeds.com. Krpano is a 360° panorama viewer. From the look of it, this URL abuses a file of that kind left forgotten on the server to load third-party content.
We cannot say who is behind it or what their specific intent is. Nor is there any reason to think the domain owner is involved. Our hypothesis is that the site was most likely exploited without the owner's knowledge. The pattern, however, is well known. Broadly, the technique uses links from reputable domains to push content that doesn't belong to them up the search rankings.
Our take has two parts. First, the "create your AI girlfriend" headline is no accident: virtual partners are a niche with real demand, and where there is demand without clear regulation, dubious intermediaries appear. Second, this is a hygiene reminder for readers: a search result about AI companions can lead to pages that are not what they claim to be. It's best to get apps directly from their official stores and to be wary of "generators" that arrive through strange links.
The underlying phenomenon, relationships with AI companions, deserves serious analysis. That includes its short-term risks (emotional dependence, the privacy of intimate conversations, minors) and its potential benefits. But that analysis needs facts this material does not provide. We'd rather run a short, honest piece than pad it with generalities.
