A virtual girlfriend “review” on a university domain: no content, and a URL best left unopened

The material we received contains no article. There is only a headline that looks like a search query («ai girlfriend app review ai companion downsides youtube») and the university's name. There are no facts, figures or data about AI companion apps that we can report, so we are not making any up.

The only verifiable element is the URL. It points to a virtual tour page for UCO's SCAI service. It includes an «xml» parameter containing base64-encoded text. Once decoded, it appears to tell the 360º panorama viewer (krpano) to load an XML file from an external github.io domain. We have not opened or verified that external resource. Nor do we know who created it or why.

Our reading is a cautious one. A legitimate institutional page does not usually carry a «virtual girlfriend» review title or a parameter with embedded external content. That pattern is typical of search engine optimization (SEO) spam that exploits the prestige of university domains. This is our interpretation, not an accusation against UCO. The most likely explanation is a flaw in the viewer exploited by third parties, and the university would have no connection to the content.

For industry context, AI virtual partners are a real and relevant issue: emotional dependence, the privacy of intimate conversations and business models built on loneliness. But the topic deserves solid sources, not a link like this one. We recommend not opening the URL and treating the item as discardable.
