SEO spam on a Japanese government website: another case of domain reputation abuse, not an AI story

A headline about «AI porn software» points to a page of Japan's Ministry of Land with a tampered panoramic viewer. It isn't news. It is a pattern of abuse of trusted domains worth recognizing.

The item we received is not a news story. The headline is a string of English keywords ("ai software to make porn", "AI Sex Chatbot Online With Customizable Roleplay And Privacy Controls"). The URL points to a page on the hrr.mlit.go.jp domain, which belongs to the Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau, part of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The material contains no facts about any product, company or figure.
What the URL does show is a panorama viewer (Pannellum) being passed a "config" parameter. That parameter points to a JSON file hosted on a github.io subdomain that has nothing to do with the ministry. We have not downloaded or checked that file. The setup matches a known pattern, which usually involves exploiting the reputation of a government or university domain to rank pages with dubious content. Everything suggests the ministry is an uninvolved third party that did not publish this content, although we cannot confirm that from what we received.
Our take: this is a feed-hygiene issue. The AI companion and AI-generated sexual content niche attracts a lot of SEO spam, and that pollutes the public record. Anyone who wants a real understanding of this sector, including child protection and the privacy of conversations, should rely on studies, regulation and verifiable company data, not on whatever a search engine returns.
Editorial decision: we are not developing this piece further. Covering it in more detail would be padding. We recommend filtering out entries like this before writing, especially those that pair adult-content keywords with an institutional domain and configuration parameters in the URL.
