A University of Córdoba URL used as SEO bait for 'virtual girlfriends': there is no story, only a warning

What we received is a headline shaped like a search query («ai girlfriend app not working ai girlfriend chat legit or not for adults») linked to a URL on the uco.es domain. No article content was downloaded, and the description simply repeats the headline. We cannot attribute any claim about AI companion apps to the UCO.

The address itself, however, reveals a striking detail. It is a virtual tour page for the university's SCAI service, with an «xml» parameter loaded with base64-encoded data (a format that turns text into an opaque string of characters). Judging by its structure, it appears to point to an XML file hosted on a third-party domain unrelated to the UCO. This is a reading of the URL itself, not a technical confirmation, and we are not claiming the university has done anything wrong.

Our take: this pattern fits a well-known web spam practice. It involves exploiting the reputation of institutional domains to slip in pages with sensitive keywords, in this case «virtual girlfriend for adults». AI companion apps draw a lot of search traffic, so they also attract those looking to exploit it.

That is why we are not treating it as news. An automated topic-based feed can pick up junk like this. It should be filtered out before anyone reads it as information, and links of this kind should not be clicked. If the UCO publishes something genuine about AI companionship, we will analyze it then. For now, the prudent course is not to pad.
